Hello

Hello and welcome to our blog. We are a family of 4 and have been home educating since our eldest son would have started school in 2012. Dh and I share the H.E duties between us. We're going to try blogging partly to encourage us to reflect on what we're doing and partly to share what we're up to with anybody who may be interested. As a family we are all really enjoying home ed. so if we help in any way to support others or to help spread the word then that would be wonderful.

A cold day in Inverness

One of the benefits (or not, depending on your point of view!) of home ed. is that families get to spend more time together. The flexibility means that we try to accompany dh when he travels for work. Usually for us the destination is London but he was working in Inverness for a couple of days this week. Online research through up the wonderful, unique, slightly eccentric Titanic Maritime Museum Inverness.

The owner has built a 1:10 model of the Titanic in his garden and you can visit (for free!). He also has a range of other models and old boats of various sorts including fishing and lifeboats which you are welcome to not only touch but to clamber all over to your hearts content. So, I checked every book about Titanic out of East Lothian library and we made a mini project of it.

There were 2 films on show and a lot of memorabilia too. It all made a big impression on the boys, who were struck by the personal stories of passengers and spent a long time acting out the events on the various vessels there.

The main attraction....

Sending out distress morse code signals.

Ordering passengers to the lifeboats.

And bonus vessels....
