Hello
Hello and welcome to our blog. We are a family of 4 and have been home educating since our eldest son would have started school in 2012. Dh and I share the H.E duties between us. We're going to try blogging partly to encourage us to reflect on what we're doing and partly to share what we're up to with anybody who may be interested. As a family we are all really enjoying home ed. so if we help in any way to support others or to help spread the word then that would be wonderful.

Edinburgh Maths Circle
Struan and I dropped into an Edinburgh Maths Circle event run by the university. Lots of age-banded puzzles to do with students on hand giving tips and...chocolate biscuits.

Medieval Music in the Dales
We are just back from having a really wonderful time at this festival. Camping at a castle next to wild boar and Medieval tents, hearing stories told in the tavern by a roaring fire, playing in workshops, listening to concerts and having a go on a bazillion Medieval instruments made by wonderful and interesting people. This one is a bladder-pipe (unlike the original, it's thankfully not a real pig's bladder...)

Another Busy Week
We had another week of buzzing about. All the way down to Guildford first, for a great recorder day.
And the RAD Junior Award Day back home.

Festival Time
We've had such a busy first week back at school.
It's still festival time in Edinburgh, so we were at two concerts and two author talks at the book festival (see photo.) We also had a creative writing workshop, a cricket festival and a chess tournament!
We even still managed to get school done...

Back to School!
We had to start on a Saturday this year, as its festival time in Edinburgh and were out at stuff four times next week. So much for the schedule already....
It's been a lovely, busy summer full of music camps, ballet camps, drama camps, cricket matches and so on and so forth. Nice to get back to regular classes, though. And we had our annual first-morning cake for breakfast. Made by Aly for the first time. P7 and P5; here we come!

Infamy, Infamy...
I think, at this time of year, a little Carry On is a totally legitimate history activity.
