Hello

Hello and welcome to our blog. We are a family of 4 and have been home educating since our eldest son would have started school in 2012. Dh and I share the H.E duties between us. We're going to try blogging partly to encourage us to reflect on what we're doing and partly to share what we're up to with anybody who may be interested. As a family we are all really enjoying home ed. so if we help in any way to support others or to help spread the word then that would be wonderful.

First News

We started to subscribe to this a month or so ago. It's a newspaper aimed at primary aged kids. Ds6 is very into news and reporting so we thought we'd give it a go. Its been a bit disappointing for us. There is some 'real news' as in stuff that is being reported in the regular news but it is dominated by minor stories. Things they presumably assume kids are more interested in. Ds6 put it like this "it's all kids winning prizes". Lots of cute animal stories too.....and at least a double spread devoted to tv personalities and programmes per issue, which ds6 doesn't get as he doesn't know who they are!
