Hello

Hello and welcome to our blog. We are a family of 4 and have been home educating since our eldest son would have started school in 2012. Dh and I share the H.E duties between us. We're going to try blogging partly to encourage us to reflect on what we're doing and partly to share what we're up to with anybody who may be interested. As a family we are all really enjoying home ed. so if we help in any way to support others or to help spread the word then that would be wonderful.

Art, a watermill and Columbus

We haven't been doing 'Artistic Pursuits' for a couple of months as I was too busy with work but happily that time has passed and it was great to get back to it this morning. We were looking at the relative shape and size of objects and used our front garden as the subject.

After lunch our co-op had a tour of the old watermill in our village, where the machinery is still in working order. Our volunteer guide pitched the talk nicely for us.

Then to the river to enjoy some sunshine and home with soggy children!

We are studying Columbus and his 'discovery' of America so at dinner time we celebrated with some new-world foods that the Carribean islanders introduced him to. Sweet potatoes, sweet corn and green peppers.
