Hello

Hello and welcome to our blog. We are a family of 4 and have been home educating since our eldest son would have started school in 2012. Dh and I share the H.E duties between us. We're going to try blogging partly to encourage us to reflect on what we're doing and partly to share what we're up to with anybody who may be interested. As a family we are all really enjoying home ed. so if we help in any way to support others or to help spread the word then that would be wonderful.

London Trip

One of the benefits of home ed. is being able to be more flexible with when and where school happens. We accompanied dh on a work trip to London last week (which was actually school holidays anyway but, well, it needn't have been!). Actually, we have discovered that home edders are entitled to school rates at The Tower of London and Hampton Court during term time so will have to plan the timing of the next trip more carefully. We started off with school on the train...

...which worked well as having some brain-food helped to prevent boredom on the journey. Once there we did lots of sightseeing. All these new sights and sounds led to both boys writing and drawing a lot more than usual, recording their impressions as we journeyed around.

We are about to add French to our curriculum so it was handy meeting a very friendly genuine French person selling cheese in Borough Market. He expects us to buy more cheese next trip. In French of course.

We finished off with a wonderful living history workshop on board The Golden Hinde. Very gruesome and bawdy. Ds6 now wants to be a barber-surgeon. Presumably so he can prescribe urine and saw people's legs off.
