Hello

Hello and welcome to our blog. We are a family of 4 and have been home educating since our eldest son would have started school in 2012. Dh and I share the H.E duties between us. We're going to try blogging partly to encourage us to reflect on what we're doing and partly to share what we're up to with anybody who may be interested. As a family we are all really enjoying home ed. so if we help in any way to support others or to help spread the word then that would be wonderful.

Butter making and a busy cosy day in....

My plan for today involved planting tulip bulbs and walking in the woods but we awoke to a real stinker of a day. Cold, wet and windy. So instead we cosied up. Ds7 asked last week how butter is made so we made some. Thank goodness for electric whisks.....I wouldn't fancy doing it the old-fashioned way. Too much of a wimp.

We also did another project from 'Drawing with Children',

 the boys played, of course,

we assembled trees from the Woodland Trust Nature Detectives,

and we watched the BBC's new 'Ten Pieces' DVD about classical music. They kindly treated us as a school and sent us a copy. Sometimes it's nice when it rains!

  1. Yes, rain is sometimes a blessing!

Thanks for the Ten Pieces tip off. I hadn't heard of it, but I'd been trying to think of ways to introduce more music appreciation into our lives so this might be just right. I've emailed about the DVD.

    I like your tiles!

  2. More music ideas....have Radio 3 Breakfast on in the morning. They play lots of short works and they will seep in unnoticed! Also Fantasia and the Naxos book 'My First Book do Classical Music'. The last one was the thing that for the boys really hooked. X
