Occasionally I have an odd moment that encapsulates one of our motivations to home ed. and this was one. I often leave the boys somewhere out and about to play in nature on their own while I go for a walk these days. I did lots of adult-free nature play as a kid and I think it has given me a deep, abiding love of and respect for nature, a sense of inner peace and made me a more confident and self-reliant person. I now see this developing in the boys and it's such a joy. This was what they were up to when I got back this time. They'd made themselves fishing lines and were sitting quietly having a manly chat about the lack of fish.
Beautiful.
