Hello

Hello and welcome to our blog. We are a family of 4 and have been home educating since our eldest son would have started school in 2012. Dh and I share the H.E duties between us. We're going to try blogging partly to encourage us to reflect on what we're doing and partly to share what we're up to with anybody who may be interested. As a family we are all really enjoying home ed. so if we help in any way to support others or to help spread the word then that would be wonderful.

Using time well

Both of our boys enjoy music. This violin is the latest addition to the house. I've always thought that it's a strength of home ed. that you can cater to kids' strengths and passions so easily. Our academic work takes much less time than it would in a class setting and there are generally less stresses on the boys. This frees up time and energy for what they love. Struan is now playing 3 instruments and needs to practise each of them every day. If he was at school I don't think he would be able to and I think I may be baulking at him having so much on his plate at such a young age.

Fortunately, as it is there was plenty of time left today for eating cake, snuggling up with a hot water bottle to read Harry Potter, and this...
