Mining

Last week we visited The Georgian House in Edinburgh's New Town to see how the wealthiest Georgians lived. This week we were looking at those much less well off. With 'The Story of The World' we are looking at the invention of steam power and the beginning of industrialisation, Today we visited the Scottish Mining Museum. Our tour guide worked down that pit himself for 32 years so was able to really put across what it felt like to work there (not in the 18th century, obviously, but there was plenty of information about mining at that time, too!).
